It was very easy to give offside and put the flag up. I have looked at it, and it looks an obvious decision.

“[It is] a bit gut-wrenching when you feel the end result has come from something which wasn’t deserved.”

FT. pic.twitter.com/J7c6qqnFby

— Everton (@Everton) April 2, 2025

Jordan Pickford also felt Diaz should have been penalised for offside but empathised with referee Sam Barrott.

“In the moment, I can’t see what’s happening, but Jarrad said it was a stonewall offside straight away,” he told Sky Sports. But I’m not a referee, and I wouldn’t want to be.

“It’s a big debate, and we’ll see what the referees come out and say. As a team, we thought it was offside, but that’s football. We’re disappointed with that decision, but it can’t always be perfect.”

Everton suffered only their second defeat in 11 Premier League games since Moyes returned to the club (W4 D5), but they had chances in this game, with Beto seeing a goal disallowed and also striking the post.

Despite the defeat, Moyes was pleased by the way his side competed with the runaway Premier League leaders, though he acknowledged they ultimately needed to be better.

“Liverpool were the better team and that’s why they’re top of the league, but we showed great resilience, and we stuck at it,” he added.

“We have been on a great run, the players have been doing brilliantly. I thought we tried to close that gap from their levels to our levels tonight.

“At the moment, they’re the best team in the league. He was 80.

His death, in a hospital, was caused by pancreatic cancer, diagnosed less than eight weeks ago, his son, Elias Bernstein, said. Mr. Bernstein lived in Brooklyn.

Over more than two decades at The Times, Mr. Bernstein brought deep historical knowledge, a gracious writing style and a stubborn contrarian streak to subjects as various as the meaning of the French Revolution, the nature of Chinese authoritarianism, the “multitudinous strands” in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing trial, and the significance of parentheses in the politics of academic language.

Writing about the Danube in 2003 after a 1,750-mile journey along it, Mr. Bernstein observed: “Rivers are symbols. You can not think of the Mississippi without also thinking of the American drama of race. The Seine is Parisian elegance; the Rhine, German national identity. The Yellow River is China immemorial.”

As for the water on which he glided from the Black Forest to the Black Sea, it was “the river of exquisite stricken cities of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire,” the “Blue Danube Waltz” of Johann Strauss, the Holocaust and “the clanging into place of the Iron Curtain.”

His journalism had sweep, an elegiac sense of the tragic inherent in human affairs, and often a subtly crafted argumentation rooted in thorough on-the-ground reporting. Mr. Bernstein, who retained throughout his life something of the nervousness and capacity for wonder of a cub reporter, never tired of working hard.

“I frankly do not like books that start from the premise that matters are too complex to allow for any generalizations,” he wrote in “Fragile Glory,” his rich 1990 portrait of France, a country “someplace midway between a certain persistent dream and an immovable reality.” It was a nation, for Mr. Bernstein, that sought to “glow with the torch of civilization itself” even as it writhed over its “military and moral collapse in the face of the Nazis.”

If cleareyed on the ineluctability of suffering, Mr. Bernstein was also an optimist. The first-generation son of Jewish immigrants from Hungary and Belarus, he grew up on a chicken farm in rural Connecticut, where he learned to sort small, medium, large, extra large and jumbo eggs and was schooled in scrappy struggle.

Clothes were hand-me-downs; Hanukkah gifts, modest. The family rule was corn in the garden could not be picked until the water was boiling. At age 9, seated on his father’s lap, he would drive the farm pickup truck to collect eggs at the chicken coops.

From that experience he took a distaste for posturing, a suspicion of fashion, an impatience with taboos and a deep belief in American possibility. He believed in a fair shake for everyone, including his journalistic subjects. In his view, it was to America, as a postwar power in Asia and Europe, that fell the responsibility to safeguard and extend the freedom from which his family had benefited.

“A Jewish intellectual from a chicken farm, he never swerved from his attachment to what America should stand for,” the author Kati Marton said in an interview.

In a dispatch from Beijing, where he had been sent to report soon after the massacre of protesting students on the night of June 3-4, 1989, Mr. Bernstein quoted a saying used in Imperial China to persuade people to inform on traitors: “For the sake of the great cause, destroy your loved ones.”

He pivoted, with the assurance of a China scholar, to ask whether, in this light, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army’s brutal slaying of hundreds of students was “a product of 20th-century totalitarianism” or reflective of the country’s long tradition of harsh autocratic rule. As often with Mr. Bernstein, it was an attempt to reach beyond the news to the deeper historical currents of events.

His conclusion was that there was something new and singular in the government’s bald denial of what had happened and in its “entirely modern campaign of incessant propaganda” against the “thugs,” as the government called its victims.

“The notion here is that any opposition to the Government is not just wrong,” he wrote. “It is criminal, treasonous, counterrevolutionary, and those who led it deserve neither respect nor humane treatment.”

A Democrat of sometimes conservative views, Mr. Bernstein grappled with America’s ideological drift long before cancel culture, gender-norm wars and the current angry fracture of the country over diversity, equity and inclusion policies.

In a gently mocking “On Language” column in The New York Times Magazine from 1990, he wrote of an academic conference he had attended that was advertised as “Rewriting the (Post)modern and (Post)colonialism,” and observed that the parentheses were a way of making readers think again about meanings “always taken for granted.”

“The parentheses were placed not only around words but also around parts of words,” he wrote. “There was one paper titled ‘Locating Un(re)presentable Desire: Narrational Transformations and Postmodern Man.’ Another was ‘It’s Not (Post) Until it’s Post(ed): (Post)modernism and the Terminological Endgames of Terrorism.’”

Drawing from that conference, he went on to note that “our basic values” were now commonly called “the dominant discourse,” or even “the totalizing discourse,” whose reputed ravages were most felt by “those outside the power structure.”

Attached to those increasingly contested basic American values, if aware of their need to evolve, he gave expression to his concerns in “Dictatorship of Virtue: Multiculturalism and the Battle for America’s Future,” published in 1994. In that book, he argued that attempts to promote diversity had often stifled diversity, and through reporting across American boardrooms and classrooms, he chronicled what he saw as a treacherous, feel-good undermining of the nation’s meritocratic, can-do vision.

It was a book that won Mr. Bernstein more enemies than friends even as it presaged ideological fissures destined to grow. He never shrank from difficult subjects: In 2009, he published “The East, the West, and Sex: A History,” an exploration of the connection between sex and power told through the encounters of Western explorers, merchants and conquerors with Eastern cultures.

“He believed in truth, no matter where the chips fell,” said David Margolick, a journalist and author. “Nobody had handed him anything. His integrity was absolute. He wrote what he thought without looking over his shoulder.”

Richard Paul Bernstein was born in New York on May 5, 1944, the first of two children of Herbert and Clare (Brown) Bernstein. The family moved soon after to a poultry farm in East Haddam, Conn., after the Jewish Agricultural Society, an organization established to provide farm training to Eastern European immigrants, gave his father a loan.

Richard attended an Orthodox synagogue — “a rickety old building cantilevered over a gully near the soda shop,” in the words of his lifelong friend Donald Berwick — and graduated from Nathan Hale-Ray High School in nearby Moodus, before attending the University of Connecticut, where he earned a B.A. in history.

Wanderlust already had a grip on him. He went on to earn an M.A. at Harvard University in history and East Asian languages, a course chosen in part because it offered the possibility of moving to Taiwan to study Mandarin. There was born a passion for Asia that never left him. It led to jobs as a stringer and later correspondent in Beijing for Time magazine before he joined The Times in 1982, initially as a reporter covering metropolitan New York.

Mr. Bernstein later served as United Nations bureau chief, Paris bureau chief, national cultural correspondent, book critic and Berlin bureau chief before leaving The Times in 2006.

Judy Peritz, his younger sister, recalled how their father had given him a BB gun when he was 11. He would shoot at birds, and one day he hit one, and was appalled to see how the bird struggled and suffered from what he had done. “He never used the gun again,” she said.

A deep kindness accompanied Mr. Bernstein to the end. Although not religious, he joined a Torah study group late in life, intent on exploring the meaning of his Jewishness.

In addition to his son and sister, Mr. Bernstein is survived by his wife, Zhongmei Li, a renowned Chinese classical dancer and choreographer.

“We all know death comes,” he told Ms. Peritz just before he died. “I would have loved to have more, but now understand that I won’t. I accept that and am not afraid. I have lived a really wonderful and interesting life.”

Source link

from World News – Techyrack Hub https://ift.tt/eZWSFBs
via IFTTT Crypto Bargainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07591872695289822348[email protected]0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-861419982923718692.post-21579627114829609922025-04-01T16:50:00.001-07:002025-04-01T16:50:13.257-07:00Watch ABC News Australia live | ABC News

Subscribe: Read more here:
ABC News provides around the clock coverage of news events as they break in Australia and abroad, including the latest coronavirus pandemic updates. When President Trump introduced a sixth-generation aircraft, the F-47, he praised its strengths — and said the version sold to allies would be deliberately downgraded.

That made sense, Mr. Trump said last week, “because someday, maybe they’re not our allies.”

For many countries wedded to the United States, his remark confirmed a related conclusion: that America can no longer be trusted. Even nations not yet directly affected can see where things are heading, as Mr. Trump threatens allies’ economies, their defense partnerships and even their sovereignty.

For now, they are negotiating to minimize the pain from blow after blow, including a broad round of tariffs expected in April. Few forces have such a powerful, long-lasting impact on geopolitics as distrust, according to social scientists who study international relations. It has repeatedly poisoned negotiations in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. It kept Cold War tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union burning for decades.

So-called realists — who see international relations as an amoral contest between self-interested states — argue that trust should always be assessed with skepticism, because believing in good intentions is risky.

But Mr. Trump has sparked more than cautious suspicion. His own distrust of allies, evident in his zero-sum belief that gains for others are losses for America, has been reciprocated. What it’s created is familiar — a distrust spiral. If you think the other person (or country) is not trustworthy, you’re more likely to break rules and contracts without shame, studies show, reinforcing a partner’s own distrust, leading to more aggression or reduced interaction.

“Trust is fragile,” Paul Slovic, a psychologist at the University of Oregon, wrote in a seminal 1993 study on risk, trust and democracy. “It is typically created rather slowly, but it can be destroyed in an instant — by a single mishap or mistake.”

In Mr. Trump’s case, allies point to a sustained assault.

His tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, which ignored the North American free trade deal that he signed during his first term, stunned America’s neighbors.

His threats to make Canada an American state and send the U.S. military into Mexico to go after drug cartels were brash intrusions on sovereignty, not unlike his demands for Greenland and the Panama Canal. His blaming of Ukraine for the war that Russia started further alienated allies, forcing them to ask: Is the United States a defender of dictators or democracy?

Relatively quickly, they have determined that even if Mr. Trump’s boldest proposals — like turning Gaza into a Mideast Riviera — are fantasies, the trend lines point in the same direction: toward a world order less like the Olympics and more like Ultimate Fighting.

Perhaps no country is more shocked than Canada. It shares the world’s largest undefended border with the United States, despite their wide disparity in military strength. Why? Because Canadians trusted America. Now, in large part, they do not.

Mark Carney, Canada’s prime minister, said on Thursday that his country’s traditional relationship with the United States was “over.”

“Trump has violated the deep assumption in Canadian foreign policy that the U.S. is an inherently trustworthy nation,” said Brian Rathbun, a global affairs professor at the University of Toronto. “That is very threatening to basic Canadian interests in trade and security, leading it to cast around for alternatives.”

Economic patriotism is somewhat new for Canada, but it has given rise to a Buy Canadian movement that urges consumers to shun American products and stocks. Canadians are also canceling U.S. holidays in large numbers.

More significant in the longer term, Mr. Trump’s threats have forged a surprising consensus around a policy that had been contentious or ignored: that Canada should be building pipelines, ports and other infrastructure east to west, not north to south, to reduce its reliance on the United States and push its resources outward to Asia and Europe.

Europe is further ahead in this process. After the U.S. election, the European Union finalized a trade deal with South American countries to create one of the world’s largest trade zones, and it has worked toward closer trade ties with India, South Africa, South Korea and Mexico.

Japan, America’s largest ally in Asia, has also been prioritizing new markets in the global south, where fast-growing economies like Vietnam’s offer new customers.

“There has been the emerging perception in Japan that we definitely have to change the portfolio of our investments,” said Ken Jimbo, a professor of international politics and security at Keio University in Tokyo. For the current administration and those that follow, he added, “we have to adjust our expectations of the American alliance.”

On the defense front, what some call “de-Americanization” is more challenging. This is especially true in Asia, where there is no NATO equivalent, and reliance on American support has somewhat stunted the militaries of countries that the United States has promised to defend (Japan, South Korea and the Philippines).

On Friday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was in Manila, promising to “truly prioritize and shift to this region.” But many of America’s partners are now working together without the United States, signing reciprocal access agreements for each other’s troops and building new coalitions to deter China as much as they can.

Europe, too, is years away from being able to fully defend itself without the help of U.S. weaponry and technology. Yet in response to the Trump administration’s tariffs, threats and general disdain — as in the leaked Signal chat in which Mr. Hegseth called Europe “pathetic” — the European Union recently announced plans to ramp up military spending. That includes a 150 billion euro loan program to finance defense investment.

The 27-nation European Union is also increasingly collaborating with two nonmembers, Britain and Norway, on defending Ukraine and on other strategic defense priorities.

For some countries, none of this is quite enough. Poland’s prime minister, Donald Tusk, told Parliament in early March that Poland would explore gaining access to nuclear weapons, fearing that Mr. Trump could not be trusted to defend a fellow NATO nation fully.

“This is a race for security,” Mr. Tusk said.

In February, South Korea’s foreign minister, Cho Tae-yul, told the National Assembly that building nuclear weapons was “not on the table, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it is off the table either.” By some estimates, both South Korea and Japan have the technical know-how to develop nuclear weapons in less than two months.

Bilihari Kausikan, a former Singaporean diplomat, said that a little mistrust can lead to healthy caution, noting that Asia has been skeptical of America since the Vietnam War. He said the end result of the Trump era could be “a more diversified world, with more maneuvering space” and a less dominant United States.

But for now, distrust is spreading. Experts said it would take years and a slew of costly trust-building efforts to bring America together with allies, new or old, for anything long-term.

“Trust is difficult to create and easy to lose,” said Deborah Welch Larson, a political scientist at the University of California, Los Angeles who wrote a book about mistrust’s Cold War role. She added, “Mistrust of the United States’ intentions and motives is growing day by day.”

Reporting was contributed by Matina Stevis-Gridneff from Toronto, Jeanna Smialek from Brussels, Choe Sang-Hun from Seoul and Martin Fackler from Tokyo.

Source link

from World News – Techyrack Hub https://ift.tt/72MpnIg
via IFTTT Crypto Bargainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07591872695289822348[email protected]0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-861419982923718692.post-8774352182127978042025-03-31T18:46:00.001-07:002025-03-31T18:46:59.740-07:00Arsenal vs Fulham: Preview, predictions and lineups

The Premier League returns on Tuesday evening, and there’s an all-London affair to get stuck into at the Emirates as Arsenal take on Fulham.

The Gunners’ early FA Cup exit means they’re yet to take to the field in the wake of the March international break, but Marco Silva’s side were in action at the weekend. Officials reported the destruction of over 10,000 structures and the evacuation of 180,000 residents. A new blaze in Granada Hills has forced more people to flee, adding to the chaos. In Pacific Palisades and Malibu, firefighters have managed to control only 8 per cent of the fire as they grapple with limited water supplies. President Joe Biden described the scene as a “war zone,” while California’s governor has called for an investigation into water scarcity issues. Frustrated residents criticise the government’s inadequate response to the crisis. To maintain order, a strict curfew has been imposed, with the National Guard deployed and two dozen arrests made for looting.

—

California | Wildfires | Los Angeles | Granada Hills | Pacific Palisades | Malibu | Joe Biden | Firstpost | News Live | World News | Latest News | Global News | International News | News | Trending News

#california #wildfires #losangeles #granadahills #pacificpalisades #malibu #biden #firstpost #newslive #worldnews #latestnews #globalnews #news #internationalnews #trendingnews

Firstpost is an Indian news and media website. This will be their fourth and final game this season, with Cleveland looking for the sweep.

They last played on Feb. 5 when the Cavs won 118-115 behind Evan Mobley’s 30 points. The odds listed were as per available information at the time of writing.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Detroit Pistons preview

The Cavaliers will play the second leg of a back-to-back after defeating the San Antonio Spurs 124-116 on Thursday at home. Jarrett Allen led the charge with 29 points and 15 rebounds. Donovan Mitchell had a near triple-double with 25 points, 14 assists and eight rebounds.

Cleveland is on a three-game win streak and has won six of the past 10 games. The team was on a four-game losing streak before it got back to winning ways. The Cavs have already qualified for the playoffs and will likely be the top seed in the East with a 5-game gap over the Boston Celtics with just nine games left in the regular season.

The Pistons have been a revelation this season. After the lowest of lows in 2023-24, they are currently fifth in the standings and are fighting for the fourth spot. They have won two straight.

Detroit last played on Tuesday when it secured a lopsided 122-96 win against the Spurs. Marcus Sasser came off the bench to lead the team with 27 points. Cade Cunningham didn’t play with a calf injury and is out on Friday as well.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Detroit Pistons betting props

Donovan Mitchell’s points total is set at 23.5. After nearly recording his first triple-double ever on Thursday, Mitchell is expected to have another good game on Friday. Bet on the over.

Ausar Thompson’s points total is set at 10.5. While his season average of 9.5 points per game is below that mark, we believe this is a good spot to take a risk in Cunningham’s absence.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Detroit Pistons prediction

The oddsmakers favor the Cavaliers to get a win on the road. They have dominated Detroit across the season, and with Cade Cunningham out, the Pistons likely won’t have an answer. Cleveland should cover the spread for a win in a game where the team total goes past 230.5 points.

<template id="post-rating-feedback-modal-template">

Why did you not like this content?

Cancel
Submit

</template>

Thank You for feedback

Quick Links

More from Sportskeeda

Edited by Debasish

from Latest Sport Updates – Techyrack Hub https://ift.tt/auvrb4T
via IFTTT Crypto Bargainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07591872695289822348[email protected]0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-861419982923718692.post-82049389866682675852025-03-29T17:46:00.001-07:002025-03-29T17:46:54.816-07:00Men’s Sweet 16 Closes Out With Four-Game Friday Slate

The Elite 8 is set after Friday’s four-game slate that saw buzzer-beaters, cold-blooded jumpers, highlight reel plays and a National Player of the Year-worthy performance from Johni Broome.

Here’s everything you need to know before tickets to San Antonio get punched later today.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

No. 2 Michigan State defeated No. 6 Ole Miss

With five minutes to go in a one-point game, Coen Carr raised the State Farm Arena roof.

After Ole Miss grabbed a defensive rebound and tried to hustle down the court, Jeremy Fears Jr. stole Sean Pedulla’s outlet pass, likely saving a transition bucket on the other end of the court.

Fears leapt in the air, intercepted the pass, and quickly threw it to Carr. Carr took two dribbles and a step inside the free-throw line before taking flight, cocking back a vicious left-handed tomahawk slam that sent the arena into a frenzy.

The Spartans rode the momentum from Carr’s dunk to close out a tightly contested 73-70 game over the Rebels, punching their ticket to the Elite 8.

Freshman phenom Jase Richardson led the Spartans with 20 points on an efficient 6-8 shooting night. In Carr’s first start of the season, he finished with 15 points. Jaden Akins, the team’s leading scorer, finished with 13 points.

Pedulla led the Rebels with 24 points. Matthew Murrell added 13 points and Malik Dia finished with 11 points.

The Rebels, despite being two-possession underdogs, hung close with the Spartans for the majority of the game. They built a 10-point lead with four minutes remaining in the first half, but squandered the opportunity to ride the momentum into the half after the Spartans rattled off a 12-4 run to enter halftime down two.

In the second half, both teams battled, forcing eight ties throughout the final frame. After Carr’s electric dunk, the Spartans took the lead after Akins drained tough running jumper.

Michigan State later sealed the game after converting six consecutive free throws after the Rebels started intentionally fouling, maintaining a slim two-possession lead.

With the win, Tom Izzo added an 11th Elite 8 trip to his legendary resume, and will look to reach his ninth Final Four when the Spartans face the top-seeded Auburn Tigers.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

No. 2 Tennessee defeated No. 3 Kentucky

Tennessee routed Kentucky 78-65 to reach their second-consecutive Elite 8.

SLAM cover star Zakai Zeigler led the Vols with a double-double, finishing with 18 points and 10 assists. Fellow cover star Chaz Lanier followed suit with 17 points and Jordan Gainey added 16 points off the bench.

Lamont Butler led the Wildcats with 18 points on an efficient 7-10 shooting night. Amari Williams added 14 points and Otega Oweh finished with 13 points.

The Vols dominated early, outscoring Kentucky 43-28 in the first half and holding the lead for nearly the entire game. Felix Okpara’s layup at the 17:22 mark in the first half gave Tennessee a 4-3 lead that they never looked back on. Kentucky was only out in front for 32 seconds in the game.

Tennessee posted an efficient scoring night, shooting 50.9% from the floor, but struggling from deep. They only cashed in five of their 19 attempts from beyond the arc. However, physical play in the paint drew fouls, creating 20 free throw attempts—which they converted 15 of.

Kentucky shot 49% from the field and 40% from deep but were unable to dig themselves out of the first-half hole.

The Vols will now face the top-seeded Houston Cougars to try and reach their first Final Four in program history.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

No. 1 Auburn defeated No. 5 Michigan

With Michigan holding a nine-point lead in the second half, Auburn went to their spark plug off the bench for instant offense.

SLAM cover star Tahaad Pettiford delivered.

Pettiford immediately cashed a deep triple to cut the deficit to six. He then drove hard into the paint and threw a bullet pass to Denver Jones as he was falling out of bounds. Jones buried the corner three to cut the lead to three.

After Johni Broome made a tough post shot off glass, Auburn had a chance to take the lead. Broome went up for a layup and missed, fighting for the offensive board amidst a sea of players.

The ball found its way into Pettiford’s hands, where he blew past Rubin Jones and swished a go-ahead stepback jumper.

The freshman continued his second-half tear, blowing past Vladislav Goldin for an easy layup and hitting an and-one fadeaway to cap off a 28-6 Auburn run.

Pettiford’s 20 points off the bench helped spark a comeback 78-65 Auburn victory over Michigan, earning the Tigers their third-ever trip to the Elite 8.

Broome posted a double-double, leading the Tigers with 22 points and 16 rebounds. Jones added 20 points and four triples. The Tigers dominated despite Miles Kelly and Chad Baker-Mazara combining for only 11 points.

Danny Wolf led Michigan with 20 points, while Goldin finished with 10 points and nine rebounds. Nimari Burnett scored 10 points and grabbed seven boards. Tre Donaldson struggled against his former team, finishing with five points and four turnovers.

Both teams were inefficient from the field, shooting under 40% and under 30% from beyond the arc.

Both teams kept the game close in the first half, with Auburn gaining a one-point advantage at the half after Broome tipped-in his own miss.

After Michigan opened the second half on a 19-9 run, Auburn quickly responded with their own scoring run to pull away late.

Auburn will now face Michigan State with a trip to the Final Four on the line.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

No. 1 Houston defeated No. 4 Purdue

With three seconds remaining in a tied game, Kelvin Sampson drew up the perfect play.

For the entire game, Purdue had left a free defender to help guard the open man on inbound plays, leaving the inbounder open.

So when Braden Smith left Milos Uzan to help defend L.J. Cryer, Uzan quickly inbounded the ball to Joseph Tugler just inside the free-throw line.

Tugler threw a pass right back to a cutting Uzan, where he finished a layup at the rim to give Houston a 62-60 in the final second.

Ballgame.

Uzan’s game-winner helped lead the Cougars to a 62-60 victory, reaching their third Elite 8 under Sampson.

Uzan led the Cougars with 22 points and drained a season-high six triples. Emanuel Sharp followed suit with 17 points. Cryer, Houston’s leading scorer, finished with five points on an inefficient 2-13 shooting night.

Fletcher Loyer led Purdue with 16 points. Trey Kaufman-Renn added 14 points and Smith dished out 15 assists.

Both teams battled in the first half, with Purdue entering halftime with a two-point advantage after Smith made two free throws with zeroes on the clock.

Houston quickly opened the final frame with an 11-1 run, opening up an eight-point lead early. However, Purdue battled, keeping the lead within single digits for the remainder of the half.

Down three with under a minute remaining, Smith missed a triple with the shot. Kaufman-Renn secured the offensive board to extend the possession, which later turned into a game-tying triple from Camden Heide in the corner.

On the ensuing possession, Uzan missed a turnaround jumper. However, with a sea of players fighting for the rebound, the ball fell out of bounds off of Purdue, later setting up the game-winning play.

Houston will now play Tennessee for a chance to advance to their second Final Four under Sampson.

from Latest Sport Updates – Techyrack Hub https://ift.tt/zdSvrLk
via IFTTT Crypto Bargainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07591872695289822348[email protected]0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-861419982923718692.post-5356852653868228192025-03-29T16:50:00.001-07:002025-03-29T16:50:21.175-07:00Pakistan Attack On LoC Big War News LIVE: ट्रेन हाईजैक के बीच LoC पर भीषण हमले शुरू!

Pakistan Attack On LoC Big War News LIVE: ट्रेन हाईजैक के बीच LoC पर भीषण हमले शुरू! अब टूट पड़ी भारतीय सेना!
#Breakingnews #Loc #Pakistantrainhijack #Indiaarmy PMModi #Shehbazsharif

About Channel:

Zee News is India’s most trusted Hindi News Channel with 24 hour coverage. We need to be competitive,” Noonan said.

“The key for me is going day to day, week to week, with more consistency within the group.

Day at the office. pic.twitter.com/J1XLu9cWcY

— FC Cincinnati (@fccincinnati) March 27, 2025

We always knew post the eight games that we had in that 24-25-day period, then with the international break, it wasn’t going to be this way until now, and so hopefully, we can stay healthy and continue to work in a good way with the same guys.”

Nashville, meanwhile, have made their best start to an MLS season after five games, losing just one of their outings so far (W3 D1) and sit fourth in the table.

They have won their last three matches on the bounce, but head coach BJ Callaghan remains wary of the threat that Cincinnati pose, despite their record this season.

“It’s a Cincinnati team that always plays with a good intensity and energy,” he said.

“They’re well coached, and the players have been playing together for a while. It’s an ambitious club that’s made really good additions as they continually try to improve.

“We’re expecting an exciting match. They present challenges on the field that we have to be ready for.”

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Nashville SC – Hany Mukhtar

Cincinnati are one of three teams Hany Mukhtar has faced in the regular season but never scored against.

Mukhtar has registered eight assists against Cincinnati, as only Cristian Espinoza versus Los Angeles FC (12) has more against a single club since the midfielder joined MLS in 2020.

Music City, the DAWGS are out pic.twitter.com/JbRrygDWHv

— Nashville SC (@NashvilleSC) March 28, 2025

FC Cincinnati – Evander

Evander scored both goals in Cincinnati’s draw with Atlanta United on Saturday.

It was his 11th regular-season match with multiple goal contributions since the start of last season, tied for the second most in MLS in that time behind only Lionel Messi (12).

MATCH PREDICTION: NASHVILLE SC WIN

With 10 points (W3 D1 L1), Nashville are off to the best five-match start in club history. Cincinnati have recorded a win and a draw in their last two matches at Nashville.

However, after a seven-match road winning streak in league play last April-June, Cincinnati have won only two of their last eight road league games (D1 L5), including losing two in a row on the road to start this season with defeats at Philadelphia Union and Charlotte FC.

OPTA WIN PROBABILITY

Nashville SC – 40.3%

Draw – 26.6%

FC Cincinnati – 33%

from Latest Sport Updates – Techyrack Hub https://ift.tt/qiNKv2M
via IFTTT Crypto Bargainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07591872695289822348[email protected]0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-861419982923718692.post-12772386452134856882025-03-28T17:50:00.001-07:002025-03-28T17:50:54.966-07:00EU leaders react to Trump’s comments on Greenland | BBC News

Denmark has made clear that Greenland is not for sale and that it belongs to its inhabitants, after the US president-elect refused to rule out using military force to seize Denmark’s autonomous territory.

Germany and France have also warned Donald Trump against threatening Greenland.

On Tuesday, Trump reiterated his desire to acquire Greenland, saying that the Arctic island was “critical” for national and economic security.

Subscribe here:

For more news, analysis and features visit: www.bbc.com/news

#Greenland #DonaldTrump #Denmark #BBCNews

source

from World News – Techyrack Hub https://ift.tt/STBozMd
via IFTTT Crypto Bargainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07591872695289822348[email protected]0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-861419982923718692.post-77980541492129500632025-03-28T15:50:00.001-07:002025-03-28T15:50:13.581-07:00New wildfire explodes in Southern California

A new Los Angeles County wildfire broke out on Wednesday along the 405 freeway, prompting evacuations of thousands of people as strong winds caused it to spread rapidly.

Subscribe to ABC News on YouTube:

ABC News Digital is your daily source of breaking national and world news, exclusive interviews and 24/7 live streaming coverage.

Download the ABC News app for the latest headlines and alerts:

Watch 24/7 coverage of breaking news and live events on ABC News Live:

Watch full episodes of World News Tonight with David Muir here:

Read ABC News reports online:

ABC News is the home to the #1 evening newscast “World News Tonight” with David Muir, “Good Morning America,” “20/20,” “Nightline,” “This Week” with George Stephanopoulos, “ABC News Live Prime” with Linsey Davis, plus the daily news podcast “Start Here.”

Connect with ABC News on social media:
Facebook:
Instagram:
TikTok:
X:
Threads:
LinkedIn:

source

from World News – Techyrack Hub https://ift.tt/7vS0xut
via IFTTT Crypto Bargainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07591872695289822348[email protected]0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-861419982923718692.post-60152299442748278422025-03-28T14:50:00.001-07:002025-03-28T14:50:25.310-07:00Airlines Cut Seats to the U.S. as Canadians Stay Away

Airlines are having to revamp their plans ahead of the peak summer travel season as Canadians avoid trips to the United States amid an escalating trade war between the two neighbors.

A grass roots effort by Canadians to boycott all things American — from U.S. grocery products and alcohol to tourist hot spots — had already set off alarms across the United States travel industry, which warned of multibillion dollar losses.

Now, about two months since President Trump took office and launched an attack against Canada’s economy and its sovereignty, the fallout from Canadians’ resulting anger is becoming clearer.

Canadian airlines are eliminating tens of thousands of seats to the United States this April, a peak period when Canadians travel to warmer destinations. The reductions range from 7 percent by Air Canada to 25 percent by Flair Airlines, a discount airline, according to Visual Approach Analytics, an aviation research company.

“We’re seeing Canadians book away from the U.S.,” said Courtney Miller, the founder and managing director of Visual Approach Analytics. “The Canadian airlines are feeling this effect disproportionately.”

Travel agencies, in response, are also changing how they advertise flight packages.

“We completely stopped promoting the U.S. because of the backlash from the consumers,” said Flemming Friisdahl, the chief executive of The Travel Agent Next Door, a Canadian company with 1,500 travel agents in its network.

The agency is selling far fewer trips to the United States, he added, as travelers redirect their spending to destinations in Europe and elsewhere.

“It’s such a shame that we’re in this position today because we’ve always been amazing neighbors,” Mr. Friisdahl said.

Air Canada, the country’s largest airline, said it would be reducing some U.S. flights to warmer destinations “to reflect commercial demand,” Christophe Hennebelle, a spokesman for the airline, said in an email.

Just how large the drop in demand is remains a little up for debate.

OAG Aviation Worldwide Limited, an analytics company based in the United Kingdom, said advance bookings for routes between Canada and the United States from April through October are down by roughly 70 percent, compared to the same time period last year.

While airlines have seen a decrease in demand, some said it has not been as pronounced as what OAG said.

“No data source is showing a decline of the magnitude that OAG is reporting — for Air Canada or in the market overall,” Mr. Hennebelle said.

Brad Cicero, a spokesman for Porter Airlines, said air travel between Canada and the United States remained robust, adding that the airline was “finalizing the summer schedule to ensure that flights are deployed where there is the greatest demand.”

John Grant, the analyst who prepared the OAG report, said the data had been supplied by a major travel distribution company, but he could not divulge its name because of an agreement with the provider.

Canadian residents took about 586,000 trips to the United States in February, a 13 percent drop from the same month last year, according to Canada’s national census agency. I thank my friend Nick Candy for sorting that out for me.”

The Reform UK leader refused to reveal details of the settlement or how much compensation he will receive, but reflected on the dispute when questioned about it by Sky News.

“I think a woke virus has gone through corporate America and corporate Britain,” he said. “We have firms like BP pretending they’re all about renewable energy rather than producing oil.”

‘Lunacies of DEI policy’

Mr Farage hit out at “the lunacies of DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) policy, of employing people on the basis of their colour, or their chosen sexuality”. “I was caught in the crossfire,” he said.

Claiming DEI was coming to an end, he added: “We’re seeing the tide turning. You know, when even Mark Zuckerberg announces that he’s axing the DEI department at Meta, you know that a big change is coming.

“And we’re moving more towards a system based on meritocracy than based on identity.”

Spreaker

This content is provided by Spreaker, which may be using cookies and other technologies.
To show you this content, we need your permission to use cookies.
You can use the buttons below to amend your preferences to enable Spreaker cookies or to allow those cookies just once.
You can change your settings at any time via the Privacy Options.

Unfortunately we have been unable to verify if you have consented to Spreaker cookies.
To view this content you can use the button below to allow Spreaker cookies for this session only.

Enable Cookies
Allow Cookies Once

Listen to Politics at Sam and Anne’s on your podcast app

Although he said he was delighted his war with NatWest was over, Mr Farage criticised Conservative and Labour ministers for failing to legislate to outlaw debanking.

He said former Treasury minister Andrew Griffith, now the shadow business and trade secretary, had promised him the Conservatives would put legislation in place.

But he said that after former prime minister Rishi Sunak called a general election last year, it had not happened.

And attacking financial regulators, he said: “The Financial Conduct Authority was set up to protect people, but it hasn’t lifted a finger to stop people being de-banked.”

Read more from Sky News:
Spring statement 2025 key takeaways
How will Trump’s tariffs affect UK?

Confirming the settlement to Sky News on Wednesday, Mr Farage and NatWest said in a joint statement: “NatWest Group and Nigel Farage MP are pleased to confirm that they have resolved and settled their dispute, and the bank has apologised to Mr Farage. The terms of settlement are confidential.”

Mr Farage was originally expected to seek millions of pounds from the company, alleging that the debanking row had damaged his reputation.

The furore, which claimed the scalp of NatWest’s former chief executive Dame Alison Rose in 2023, centred on whether the bank’s Coutts subsidiary closed Mr Farage’s accounts for commercial or political reasons.

NatWest initially claimed the motivation was commercial, before Mr Farage obtained internal evidence from the bank suggesting his political views had been a pivotal factor in the decision.

Source link

from World News – Techyrack Hub https://ift.tt/10mcGWP
via IFTTT Crypto Bargainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07591872695289822348[email protected]0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-861419982923718692.post-20930170503546918252025-03-27T18:50:00.001-07:002025-03-27T18:50:20.092-07:00Russia, Iran & China to Hold Joint Military Exercises | World News | WION

The navies of Iran, Russia and China will hold military drills off the coast of Iran this week in a bid to boost cooperation.
