Competition: Egypt Premier League
Market: Pyramids win
Odds: 4/11 @ BetUS
Looking to make another Premier League statement on Wednesday night, Pyramids will welcome Smouha to the 30 June Stadium in midweek.
Starting with the hosts, extending on their Egypt Cup adventure last week on their return from the international break, Pyramids are signing off the 2023 campaign with a stellar flurry. Eventually punching their semi-final ticket thanks to a last-gasp 1-0 victory away at AL Ittihad, Jamie Pacheco’s men have cruised their way to another silver medal finish in 2023. Heading into the fortnight interval with another 1-0 win away at Pharco, the Cairo-based outfit have remarkably won each of their last eight straight domestic appearances across all competitions – a run that stems all the way back to May 5th. Riding what has been a clinical wave of momentum, Pyramids have also gained a reputation for their continued displays at the back. In fact, along with shipping just a single goal in their previous seven appearances, it should also be noted that Pacheco’s high-flying squad have conceded just a single goal in over 650 minutes of action.
As for the visitors, while Pyramids might be signing off their Premier League campaign in the midst of a real flurry, the same can not be said for a struggling Smouha. Last seen marking their return from the international break with a toothless 1-0 loss away at Nogoom, Ahmed Samy’s men are without a win from any of their last five domestic appearances across all competitions. With that extended wobble highlighted by a 2-0 defeat at the hands of El Gaish on June 3rd, the Alexandria-based outfit will be more than aware that they face a huge challenge on Wednesday night. Facing a real uphill battle in their bid to claim a top-half finish, the midweek guests have also shown some extended issues in the final third. Drawing a blank in three of their last four domestic showdowns, Smouha have also lost each of their last four straight meetings against the Egyptian heavyweights.
